Getting here from there...
From Cork: take the N71 to Bandon, turn right at the bridge for Dunmanway and Bantry. Then follow the R586 to Bantry. Take the N71 to Glengarriff. Turn left onto R572 to Castletownbere. Drive through Castletown and continue ten miles approx. on the main road to Allihies. You have arrived! Get to the pub.
From Kenmare: take the road South towards Glengarrif. Imediately over the river bridge turn right. An hours drive will get you to Castletownbere if you miss the right turn just past the village of Eyries, signposted for Allihies. Mind the sheep.
Bus Éireann service from Killarney - Castletownbere is a summer service (28th June - 30th August) only. Bus Éireann from Cork (Direction Goleen via Glengarrif and Skibereen) - Castletownbere is all year round. From Castletownbere, it is 17km to Allihies. Check there online timetables
It is possible to hire bikes (from about €8.00) in either Allihies or Castletownbere or a taxi from Castletownbere is approximately €16. By car or bike, follow the signs from Castletownbere to Allihies, the road is well sign posted.
