Allihies Community Hall
Allihies Community Centre was purpose built in the early 1970's and is run by local committee. The centre caters for all meetings, functions, art exhibitions, plays, night classes, dances and socials held in the parish.
The many discos and dances that are held in the hall raise its funds. The busiest time is during the festival week in mid August, but discos are held occasionally throughout the year, mainly on bank holiday weekends.
The Centre has a full bar on the premises catering for all age groups attending the dances. Over the years profits have been continually utilised to improve the facility. New windows have been installed as well as gas heating. The bar has been modernised upgrading the centre to a very high standard.
The plans for the future include the building of new toilets, and possibly indoor games facilities. New members are welcome to the Hall Committee, and the door is always open at the Allihies Community Centre AGM, which is held in January.
