Check the news page on the latest on the Domain name hijack drama! Allihies parish is on the very tip of the most south westerly peninsula in Ireland. Jutting out 50 km. into the Atlantic ocean from Ireland. Almost cut off from the world by the Caha mountains, only three narrow roads give access to this remote village. Despite the isolation, we are a lively, friendly and welcoming community. The parish boasts two active churches where mass is celebrated. Most children attend Cahermore National School until they are able to attend the community school in nearby Castletownbere. Accommodation is available at all times as seasoned visitors come all the year round. Activities for leisure abound in Allihies. Hillwalking, fishing from shore or boat. Kayaking, beachcombing, birdwatching and cycling are all enjoyed here. Archaeology genealogy arts and language are taught if they are to exhausting just lying on the beach is to be recommended. follow this link for more details
