Reentrisk
Rionn Truisc - "The cod's head"
The most remote area of the parish has some of the most spectacular areas. Their are natural rock arches to be found if you know where to look and some of the wildest and most remote areas in this remote parish.
Cleonach
Really hidden away the townland of Claynoch (various spellings). Once a community that boasted forty families who lived off the mackerel fishing. The last permanent inhabitants moved out in the 1980's and it is only occasionally visited by holiday makers. Follow the road from Allihies village towards Eyries, after the gap through the mountains go down the steep hill to the three houses. As you pass them turn left onto the dirt road and continue as far as you dare by car (this road is dangerous and badly maintained) or walking (safe enough). The track goes on for a mile and a half, through three gates and peters out in a deserted village, some of the ruins now converted into holiday homes. There are a few favorite fishing spots on the way.
This was, a few years ago, the location for the filming of the TV mini series "Falling for a Dancer"
Eskivaude
On the sunny south side of the cod's head this small gathering of houses shelters in the rocks. In seems to catch the sun all the year round. The sheltered harbor invites swimming, although the beech is stony. A few fields supported the Globe Artichoke Coop up until recently. The families who live their have farmed and fished there for generations and always welcome visitors, you will often get an invite for a cup of tea.
The School House B & B
Annie and Robin run a delightful b&b in the converted school. With spectacular views and fine cooking it some of the most sought after accommodation in the Parish. Marked as No. 11 on the map here....
