Elegy to a Harper
It's when you're sitting, time sidles by
And no one tells you, so you start to cry
When the moon is rising, to a starlit sky
As the wind sings dixie, you say goodbye
And will they ever see you, with the eyes they had
As you tapdance trouble, with your eyes so sad
No-one's so perfect, that they've never been bad
No-one's so sane, that they've never been mad
But age is creeping, and the shadows are long
Is this a candle's flicker, before it's gone
And the scales are set, though the spirit is strong
And the breath is falling, on the final song
But your voice is endless, and your dreams are young
Perhaps you're like a flower, about to see the sun
In a single moment this could all become
When all your other moments become a single one
There's nothing more profound, than a single sound
than a single sound
