The Spirit Inside
Deep in the minefield of juvenile memory
Flashing in pulses, impressions of family
Captured in flashlight. Hidden just out 'a sight
Something is not quite right; perhaps it's a door; perhaps it's
a door
And it opens to let you in
Opens to show within
Take one more step, one more step to inside
For to you sir it's free, there is nothing to hide
And the keener your senses the better the ride
And the keener your senses the better the ride
Through the door there is all which is spinning to nothing
From the great to the small, from the skin to the stuffing
Implosions of entities, stripped of identities
Blown by a hidden breeze; perhaps there is more;
perhaps there is more
And the clock tick is in reverse
Ticking back to see the first
I'm trying hard, flying hard to who I was
And can I see, can I see the cause
And I am all alone, and I am my applause
And I am all alone, and I am my applause
For I am spirit, I am safe and I am vast
And I am all the elements for whom the die is cast
The only sense I need is feeling, and 'though in time the slow
revealing
Might be to me so unappealing; perhaps it's my core;
perhaps it's my core
And if I breathe I exhale stars
I feel for Pluto feel for Mars
I embrace the Sun and I know that I am old
I awaken my core from its entropic hold
And the fire that I feel slowly exhales the cold
And the fire that I feel slowly exhales the cold
Drifting through feelings I feel that I have recall
The beat of my heart is the same one that beats us all
As we hide from the flashlight, hiding just out 'a sight
For something is not quite right; so I close the door; so I close
the door
And it closes to keep us in
It closes on everything
Take one last look, one last look at outside
There was nothing to see, there was nothing to hide
And the duller our senses the safer the ride
And the duller our senses the safer the ride
