Solar Alignment
Alignment Of The Spiritual Being

The methods of ritual serve as a medium for the alignment of the being.

Much is made in modern esotericism of the field of psychology and as such I will use this for comparative terms of reference.

In psychology there is the idea of the complex, an idea in the subconscious mind which although it has no immediate presence in the conscious mind, none the less forms an influence. The most easily identified complexes are negative in nature, such as an inexplicable fear of water perhaps caused by a negative experience in childhood, unremembered, yet still forming a subconscious influence on the conscious mind.

Complexes can also be built as positive and deliberate influences on our daily lives. Through the language of the subconscious, being that of gesture and symbol we can implant positive influences constantly at work, even after they have left our conscious mind.

In the regular performance of affirmation one builds in both the subconscious and in the intent filled conscious the mental alignment of that affirmation. If we wake up in the morning and say “today is going to be a good day”, we are setting within ourselves the knowledge of both the potential for a good day and our own ability to define that quality in our daily dealings.

As occultists, the affirmations we make reach beyond our immediate sphere, for within the occultist is the knowledge of the supernal soul or God. By alignment with the divinity on a regular basis, this alignment of all aspects of our being, we tap into the infinite power and wisdom for active change.

THE ADORATION (Basic/ GD)

This page is concerned with just such an alignment through “The Adoration”. This adoration is derived from materials of the Hermetic Order Of The Golden Dawn, and Israel Regardie has attributed it to the Gnostics.

At its most exoteric level it offers praise to the one God, the all pervading being of qabalistic thought, but bearing in mind the above information on alignment, the adoration opens up to a personal alignment and identification with the One. This alignment in turn allows us to manifest Emmanuel, God with us.

It may be performed three or four times a day, unto the East at dawn. The south at midday, the west in the evening and to the north at night (the concealed sun God). I can me performed giving the hailing sign, being hands outstretched in front of the body and above head level (45 degree angle) with fingers outstretched, but together.

Holy art Thou, Lord of the Universe,
Holy art Thou, Whom nature hath not formed,
Holy art Thou, The Vast and the Mighty One,
Lord of the Light, And of the Darkness,
Amen.

Holy art Thou, Lord of the Universe…

Facing East the initiate begins the adoration, facing the rising sun, the source of the LVX. Through an association with the solar logos one finds bridge to the supernal soul. The rising sun seeks to remind us of the spiritual awakening of the being through the alignment with the solar logos. In identifying with the Lord of the Universe, the encompassing being in seeming separation, we also acknowledge our own inner divinity and are reminded of the journey needed before the rising sun will manifest in full glory.

Holy art Thou, Whom Nature hath not formed…

The role of the One is the creator, and in creation the expansion of His/ Her being makes us also the same One, in such seeming separation as we may be. A full understanding of this nature rectifies all poles, all philosophies, all men, for we are all of the same One.

Holy art Thou, the Vast and the Mighty ONE…

A statement of the nature of the variant and encompassing being. It is said in qabalistic thought that God expanded himself in the act of creation, creating seeming separation so that He/She could fully appreciate him/her self. This act sees Him recognise His full expanse, from the restrictive nature of Malkuth to the limitless light which we in seeming separation seek to understand and experience.

Lord of the Light, And of the Darkness…

In creation there is polarity, and in polarity there are polar opposites, or esoteric binary. In Genesis Elohim said:

And Elohim said let there be light and he saw it was Good. And He separated the light from the darkness.

In the act of creation there is division, but the Source, the One God encapsulates and is present in all of these polarities. The above affirms the eminent nature of the one God in all polarities, encompassing yet espousing neither exclusively.

Amen…

The esoteric formula of the amen is found in the words of the Christios, who in the Christian tradition is the incarnate logos. In the Book Of Revelations the Christ says “These are the words of the amen” (Rev. 3:14). This amen formula is much the same as the Brahmin formula of “Aum” uttered by Sri Brahma on the lotus. Sri Brahma spent many ages trying to think creation into being, and through this process of contemplation still failed to create our universe. Finally Sri Brahma simply sat and chanted “Aum”, and through this consolidated statement of the spiritual I AM, it expanded to fill the infinity of being. The Amen statement is an affirmation of the I AM logos force and expresses the unified force of existence. It serves as a final affirmation to the all pervading I AM logos.

As a practical exercise in Western esotericism, the adoration serves as a connection to the supernal soul through the solar aspect of the logos. It is also the methodical construction of the Crown in the Kingdom, the functioning of perfection in the human constitution, seeing the manifestation of the glory of the deity in the earthly spheres. It serves as an adoration, an alignment which is synced with the physical sun throughout the day.

In the morning towards the East, the is rising sun in all its colour filled glory, spilling across the horizon. It aligns the being first thing in the morning.

The second utterance of the adoration should be at noon, or the nearest available time to the midday sun, high in the sky. It affirms the initial alignment with the supernal soul.

The final adoration of the day is in the may be in the evening to the setting sun, as it leaves our sight for the nights rest. In this affirmation we ensure the ever burning presence of the light of the logos in even the darkest hour, knowing it burns within the soul of each of us. That said, it may also be the second last representing a wheel of sun rise, sun height, sun set and sun depths, or darkened night.

This adoration is a basic, yet deeply beneficial technique for alignment with the supernal soul through the solar logos.

A number of other adorations may also be used, of which the following are but a few.

OGDOADIC ADORATION (Aurum Solis)

Salutation and praise unto thee, O life-enkindling Sun, child of Creation's Lord!

O thou lone all-seeing Eye of the vault celestial! Extend thy light that I may see, but dim thy glory that I be not blinded. Unmask thy countenance, O God of Light: for I am a lover of Truth and I would behold the spiritual essence concealed by thy golden disk!

So reveal unto my perception thy shining and inmost nature, even that high spirit which infuses thee and is one with the primal flame of mine own being. O life-enkindling Sun, child of Creation's Lord: salutation and praise unto thee!

LIBER RESH VEL HELIOS (Thelemic)

The notorious esotericist Aleister Crowley wrote Liber Resh vel Helios which serves an adoration in the Egyptian tradition, which would also warrant experiment with in this same stream of spiritual alignment. It may be given to each of the quarters at the four points of the day using the hailing sign, or the sign of your grade if you are a member of the A.’.A.’., for which this is written.

Morn:

Hail unto Thee who art Ra in Thy rising, even unto

Thee who art Ra in Thy strength, who travellest over the Heavens in Thy bark at the Uprising of the Sun.

Tahuti standeth in His splendour at the prow, and Ra-Hoor abideth at the helm.

Hail unto Thee from the Abodes of Night!

Noon:

Hail unto Thee who art Ahathoor in Thy triumphing,

even unto Thee who art Ahathoor in Thy beauty, who travellest over the Heavens in Thy bark at the Mid-course of the Sun.

Tahuti standeth in His splendour at the prow, and Ra-Hoor abideth at the helm.

Hail unto Thee from the Abodes of Morning!

Eve:

Hail unto Thee who art Tum in Thy setting, even unto

Thee who art Tum in Thy joy, who travellest over the Heavens in Thy bark at the Down-going of the Sun.

Tahuti standeth in His splendour at the prow, and Ra-Hoor abideth at the helm.

Hail unto Thee from the Abodes of Day!

Night:

Hail unto Thee who art Khephra in Thy hiding, even

unto Thee who art Khephra in Thy silence, who travellest over the Heavens in Thy bark at the Midnight Hour of the Sun.

Tahuti standeth in His splendour at the prow, and Ra-Hoor abideth at the helm.

Hail unto Thee from the Abodes of Evening!

These adorations should ideally be performed throughout the day, but may also be performed together once a day with appropriate visualisation in the context of more formal space (ie a banished space).
