Poetical Memoirs of a Kerry woman
is a collection of poetry from the pen of Máiréad Tuohy Duffy. In it,
she captures all the old traditional practises in her native Kerry,
intermingled with her good humoured experiences as a teacher in the
Dublin suburbs. Her final poems are spiritual and bring with them devotion
to Guardian Angels, she wishes to pass on to her readers. From the Forge
to the Shearing of Sheep, from the Bog Meitheal to the Lone Greyhound,
Máiréad sees beauty in everything, the butterfly she saved from drowning,
the trees, the dawn, the flowers, the seagulls, even the forgotten cactus
finds a place in her poetry.
