If you are interested to find out the reasons behind the design then read on.
The aim of the project was to create a web site for
"The Sligo Leitrim and District Youth & School boys football league"
in raw HTML using only notepad.
The web site was to have the following information on it.
    History of the league
League Tables displaying scores placing and divisions
A list of League Fixtures for the coming week
A list of Links to the FAI, UEFA and FIFA
Roll of Honour showing League winners and Runner's up
The following was to be taken into consideration during the designing of the web site
The use of comments in the HTML code for
    Updating Tables
    Updating Fixtures
Updating Days and Dates to corresponded with Table and Fixture updates
Other specifications
Images, banners or other various graphics used on the web site are our own work from scratch.
Exceptions
Part of the mark for the project were going for image compression and image quality
The photographs of the 2 teams were of very poor quality and had to be restored and compressed before use.
The FIFA, FAI and UEFA logo's were also given to us and had to be altered in size and quality before use.
The Sligo/Leitrim Youth and School Boys Logo was also given to us and I altered it to suit my design
All other images are my own work.
Backwards and cross browser compatibility was taken into consideration by use of Javascript to determine if the viewers browser was capable of viewing frames and if not then they would be sent directly to the Homepage which contained all the links of the left frame
Flash was employed for the links Opening Balls in the left frame as they require user interactivity
Windows Paint and Corel Photo paint was used for image design and coloration. These were then animated in Flash 3 and exported as animated GIF's
Paint Shop Pro was used for restoration of the photographs using resample and gamma correction and then compressed as JPEG's for quick download times
PhotoShop was used to clean up the FIA, FIFA and UEFA images and then compress them in Paint Shop Pro
The background Crest was altered in Windows Paint to mimic a watermark and was converted from a bitmap of size 500X1000 wide to GIF Format so it can be displayed at a higher resolution
The background properties are fixed so that the text scrolls and the image remains in its original position, "This only works for Internet Explorer 4 or higher" unfortunately. The image is tiled in Netscape.
The CENTER tag has been used for Netscape compatibility so that table alignment will be center.
The site is designed with 12-18 year olds in mind and this is conveyed in the use of imagery and language. The language is youthful, cheerful and self-explanatory to suit the audience
Colours were chosen on the basis of the target audience and web-safe palette and to produce minimal eyestrain. Red in the left frame symbolic of the Sligo/Leitrim team colours, vibrancy and youth. The right frame is an image consisting mostly of white and a pastel pint crest so the black text is easy to read
On each page the Sligo Leitrim logo is clearly visible so there is consistency through out the site
Links to other sites use "_new" so a new browser window will open and the original site will be displayed without capturing other sites within your frame
There is a link to download Flash Player, in the case of you are using a newer browser that accommodates frames and are unable to see the links.
