Tower 1979

This large scale WW2 commemorative sculpture was intended to be sited in an open field or on a beachhead.

The material is precast concrete with small metal inserts which would eventually rust (bleed).

The cross sections shown here are based on a mathematical relationship between all the parts of the cube. The sections were to be situated in such a way as to reveal their geometrical kinship.

The idea here is that the perfection of form in war presents us with both the beauty and the ethical redundancy of pure intellect.
