Seniors

-          Unlucky in the championship with early defeats to Athenry and Castlegar, the team was unlucky in loosing out to Gort in a keenly contested local derby. This left the team with a bottom of the table clash with Leitrim Kilnadeema. The game was one of the games of the year and ended in a draw, Ardrahan staging a second half revival after gifting the opposition three first half goals. The replay while never reaching the highs of the drawn game was still a fiercely contested game, which resulted in victory for Ardrahan and senior status retained.

-          The seniors are still involved in the league, having beaten Kinvara and Liam Mellows and loosing out by the narrowest of margins to Craughwell in the group matches. This leaves the team guaranteed at least a play off.

-          There was no luck in the Kilbeacanty sevens held on the Monday of the June Bank Holiday weekend. The Ardrahan team were defeated in the first round by Beagh.

-          Ardrahan won the Paddy Kelly tournament with wins over Ballindereen ( w/o), Clarinbridge and Kinvara in the final. The final itself was a game played with the intensity of a championship game, with Ardrahan surviving a late challenge by the home team to hold out for a two-point victory and to win for the first time the Paddy Kelly Memorial trophy.

Juniors

-          The juniors championship campaign got off to a bad start with defeat to Killimor and Padraig Pearses in the first matches, the team received a lifeline with a walkover win over Killimordaly and this left a last game with Abbeyknockmoy with a playoff place at stake. However, Abbey proved too strong on the evening.

-          The juniors also entered the City League competition and with Group victories over Kinvara, Abbeyknockmoy and Castlegar, the only defeat being a narrow loss to St. Thomas’s, the team qualified for the semi final stages where after a replay they defeated Moycullen to qualify for a yet to take place final against St. Thomas’s.

Under 21

Only game to date was a first round victory against Tynagh

Minors

-          The minors qualified for the knock out stages with a 100% record following victories against Leitrim Kilnadeema, Clarinbridge and Ballygar. The team went on to beat Moycullen in the Quarter Final and set up a local derby Semi final against Gort, with the winners to play Clarinbridge in the final.

Under 16

-          Under 16’s have qualified for a semi final against yet to be decided opponents. This followed group match victories against Turloughmore, Craughwell, Loughrea, and Gort.

Under 14

-          Unlucky to be in a very strong group the under 14’s were knocked out at the group stage, however they are still involved in the shield competition and are at the semi final stage, the team are also involved in the Brendan Linnane tournament and are drawn to meet Clarinbridge in the Quarter Final.

Under 12

-          The under 12’s after the group matches qualified for a quarter final meeting with Carnmore, a game which proved to be a reversal of fortune for Ardrahan. Having been defeated by Carnmore in the group stages, Ardrahan turned the table on their opponents and qualified for a semi final with St. Thomas’s. Again the tables were turned, and very much against the odds Ardrahan surprised their neighbours to qualify for the final against Sarsfields.

-          The final which was played in Ballinasloe ended with a narrow victory for Sarsfields, Ardrahan who were in the hunt right through, ran out of luck on the day, a number of score chances which would have gone in on another day, stayed out. Coupled with two early Sarsfields goals it was not to be Ardrahan’s day.

-          Well done to the panel and their mentors, Padraig Higgans, Martin Glynn, Tom Forde and Gerry Bond. Thanks to Gerry Hennelly for his sponsorship of T Shirts for the final.

Under 8/10/11

-          The younger brigade having been training over the summer months and took part in a number of competitions such as the Crusheen, and Craughwell competitions, as well as hosting their own blitz with Mullagh, St Thomas’s and Beagh making up the four teams. Ardrahan were unlucky on the day and the blitz was eventually won by Beagh on scoring averages.

-          Thanks to Frank Higgans for his generous support for this competition over the years.

-          Ardrahan also took part in an under 11 ground hurling tournament which involved games against Beagh, Clarinbridge and St Thomas’s which proved o be a great mornings hurling

Under 14/16 Football

-          Ardrahan entered teams in the league and championship at both under 14 and 16 levels under the managership of Hubert Geoghegan. The teams acquitted themselves very well with the Under 14’s being unlucky in loosing out at the semi final stage. The team are still involved in the league competition.
