Top ten of essential oils

Chamomile Roman (anthemis nobilis) - sweet, pleasant scent. Highly recommended in massage blends for soothing and calming properties. Use in skin, beauty and hair preparations; bath, burner or massage for relaxation. As it is so gentle and soothing it is often used to calm babies and children.  (5ml €14.90)

Eucalyptus (~globulus): powerful antiseptic, good for clearing the head & chest. Use in a burner in a sick room to ease breathing and help keep infections etc. from spreading. Use in massage as a chest rub or for tired muscles.  (10ml €5.00; 25ml €9.95)

Frankincense (boswellia thurifera/olibamus): from gum resin. Properties slow down and deepen the breath therefore often used for meditation or religious ceremonies. Helps asthma, bronchitis and respiratory system in general. Rejuvenates and tones mature skin. Good as a perfume or added to unscented moisturiser.  (Floral aroma - 5ml €12.50)

Lavender (lavandula angustifolia): soothing, relaxing, Lavender is the most versatile of essential oils. Excellent for baths at the end of hard days, on pillows or burners to induce restful sleep. Soothing for all skin conditions, blemishes, mature skin, burns & sunburn. Pain reliving and good for headaches, muscular pain etc. One of the safest and gentlest oil for all ages.  (10ml €6.95; 25ml €13.95 )

Lemongrass (cymbopogon citratus): one of the most popular oils for use in a burner, its fresh lemony scent is very refreshing and deodorising. It also acts as an insect repellent. Stimulating oil. Good in a foot bath for tired feet.  (10ml €5.02; 25ml €9.95)

Peppermint (mentha piperita): cooling, digestive, stimulating, head clearing. Use a couple of drops on a tissue for sinus, headcold etc. Combine with Lavender for headaches. Great for tired feet. Also deodorising. Not for sensitive skins.  (10ml €5.50; 25ml €9.95)
