MY INSPIRATIONS
I studied fine art at Coventry Lanchester Polytechnic, where I became interested in an art that was largely not considered art by many people. So called primitive art, the rich colours of Mexico, the proportions of African art and the freedom in children's art. The work of Jean Dubuffet, and the Cobra group of artists, also inspired me greatly as do the more famous artists, such as Paul Klee, Henri Rousseau and Picasso .

I like my work to escape into a reality less controlled by the strictures of social life, like dreams there is often a bizarre mix of animals and objects, giving a "surreal" vision, or as Guillaume Apollinare wrote in 1917 coining the expression ‘ surrealism, ' revealing a truth behind the real.'

I often start a picture using an 'automatic' method random splashes and shapes, the images arranging themselves in place. During the creative process some objects change from figurative beings to abstract shapes and the other way around.

I paint from the heart .

The aim of the picture is itself.
