Mahoonagh
By - Mike Dwane

I've roamed Mahoonagh to and fro,
In search of a little lore,
In Fanelehane and Clouncourivaun
In Farran and Clonmore.
From Ballygoleen to Inniskeane
Rathpalatineto Shanrath
and where time stands still at the Holy Well
near the townland of Gortskeagh

I sat me down in Walshestown ,
with an old friend to recall.
The long ago round Ballynoe,
The hard work and football.
To plough and mow to reap and sow
They sought no praise or fame,
Just a place in the sun and God's will be done
And Deel Rangers to win the game.

Now Coolyroe what would we do
Without your fertile plain.
Sure every blade in Pairc MacUaid ,
recalls a heros name.
We were on the road no fixed abode
No place to call our own.
Well gra mo roidhe tis grand to see
This spot that's home sweet home.
