As Dúchas Dóchas is a limited company set up by Limerick County Council and FÁS. Since work commenced on the Local Training Initiative (LTI) in November 1999, As Dúchas Dóchas has concentrated on establishing itself as a project dedicated to the study and research of history and folklore in the West County Limerick area.
Currently West Limerick Schools Project 2002 is underway with the help of 48 national schools. The results of this research will be then uploaded to a website specifically dedicated to the project @
The company so far has focused on the preparation of researchers for the compilation of information for the "Working Lives" project, a collection of oral folklore of the people's lives in the West Limerick area, The company's first publication "Working Lives - Memoirs of Rural Ireland" has a website dedicated to it @
which contains sound bites and pictures from the interviews that were conducted for the book. Also research is currently being conducted with a view to launching the second book in October 2002.Also the Gateway to the West websites project is well underway which can be accessed at
