Hold The Note - Music From West Limerick

On two weekends in October 1999, a group of local musicians and (not so young!) avid session followers gathered in the hospitable and homely comforts of Chris and Joan Keating's Bar, The Homestead, for the purpose of recording the music of these young musicians , the future custodians of our tradition.

The cover of the album was designed by Bernadette Lynch. She explains that the picture tries to capture the musical spirit of West Limerick. The tree with it's long roots represents the older generation of musicians and the legacy they have left behind. The verdant gold stands for the development of the music today. The bird is a sign of the melody and how it is tied to the area, while the colours, blue, red and gold express the richness of music in West Limerick.

Under the musical direction of teacher Tim Collins and the technical expertise of Matt Purcell, Harmony Row Studios Ennis, the magic and beauty of this timeless music was captured on tape. The result was a lively album called "Hold the Note".
