THE EGYPTIAN GODS

Ra was the father of the Gods. Shu and Tefenet were the first born. Shu was the God of the Air and Tefenet was the Goddess of the earth. They were made to marry and from this union Geb and Nut were created. Geb was believed to be the God of the Earth and Nut was the Goddess of the Sky. They were made to marry also and brought forth from this union were OSIRIS, SETH, NEPTHTYS and Isis. All together these nine Gods were known as "ENNEAD"Then there were local Gods who were worshipped in different regions and had temples erected in their Honour.

 

As the creator god, Ra was the father of many gods. Hathor was another of Ra's daughters. She was goddess of several things-including being the protector of children and the goddess of love. Sometimes she is represented as a cow, or a woman with a cow's head.

Anubis was another of the gods created by Ra. He had the head of a jackal and was guardian of the Underworld.

RA

Ra was the creator god. Associated with the sun, he was sometimes called RA-ATUM, AMON-RA or RA-HORAKHTY. Sometimes Ra portrayed as a falcon, or a man with a falcon's head. Sometimes he is represented as the sun and other times as a scarab beetle. Ra was the father of the twins gods Shu and Tefenet.

SHU

Shu was the god of air.

 

TEFENET

Tefenet was the goddess of moisture. Together they created Geb and Nut.

 

GEB

Geb was the god of Earth.

 

NUT

Nut was the goddess of the Sky.

 

OSIRIS

Osiris was the god of the Underworld. You can recognise him by his mummified body.He was killed by his brother Seth.``
