Hunting/Gun Dog Body: Muscular thighs, front legs straight. Colour: Lemon and white, orange and white, liver and white, black and white. Personality: A clever and affectionate dog tolerant of children and obedient, with a good sense of smell. Working Description: A robust, handsome, active dog still used as a sheepdog but also a guard dog, rescue dog and guide dog. Body: Long in comparison to height. Colour: Tricolour (tan, black and white) , blue merle, sable and white. Personality: Kind sensetive dogs but apt to be indolent and so must be trained most carefully: loyal and not agressive, but suspicious of strangers. Terriers Description: A strain of wire-haired fox terrier, able to run with hounds or go to ground. Body: A straight back, with strong angular hind quarters and short legs. Colour: White with markings in tan, black or traditional hound colours. Personality: A courageous dog, its obedience makes it a good companion. Toys Description: A good-looking and well proportioned dog with a sporting nature. Body: Nicely proportioned with bony front legs and angular thighs. Colour: Black and tan, ruby, blenheim and tricolour (black, white and chestnut). Personality: Pleasent, active and companionable a genuinely amialbe dog. Utility Description: A strong muscular dog of excellent proportions, fleet of foot and with a great deal of endurance. Body: Lithe body, strong neck, straight frony legs. Colour: A pure white ground colour, with clearly-defined spots of either black or liver-brown, spots on the body should be larger than those elsewhere. Personality: Playful with a good temperament independent but needs a lot of human attention. Hounds Description: Small active hounds of great character, developed to hunt the hare. Body: Well-Spring ribs, extending well back; powerful loins, longish neck with slight dewlap strong round feet. Personality: Clean and quiet these cheerful and affectionate hounds are now extremely popular as companion dogs. |
