At the start of the second half Martin Wynne got some very good drives to the basket to keep Ballina in touch. At this stage Ballina were in trouble under the boards, and could not match Ballinrobes much stronger and taller presence. Maurice Horan and Robert Bowe got several scores inside to increase the lead to 58-43. At the end of the third quarter David Mc Dermot scored a big three pointer to leave the scores 63- 46.
At the start of the final quarter Jamie Wall pushed the lead to 26 points 74-48. David Melia started the Ballina comeback with a big three pointer. Ballina Colts went into a full court press and with great steals Colin Kennedy and Padraic Roche cut the lead to 65-76. At this stage Ballina lost Padraic Roche with an injury and both David Melia and Oisin Ginty were fouled out. In the final minutes Ballinrobe got several easy baskets to finish winners by 98-75, with Ballina failing to score in this period.
