Balllinrobe emerged victorious on Sunday
evening in against a young Ballina Colts
team at An Sportlann , Ballinrobe.
Ballina Colts missing all of last years
starting five started with Brain O
Malley, Martin Wynne , Simon Walshe,
David Melia and Oisin Ginty against a
well organized and tall Ballinrobe team.Ballina
raced into a 29-22 lead at the end of the
first quarter with David Melia and Brain
O Malley scoring from the three point
range. In the second quarter Ballinrobe
cut the Ballina lead with Jamie Wall
scoring with ease, to leave the scores 46-44
at the break.
Ballinrobe build up a ten point lead in
the third quarter with Robert Bowe
scoring freely inside , Ballina were
struggling to compete inside and
Ballinrobes superior height under the
boards was evident .
Ballina continued to work hard in the
final quarter and Martin Wynne scored
great baskets both outside shooting and
with drives to the basket .
Best for Ballinrobe were Jamie Wall ,
Dave Mellotte and Robert Bowe . Ballina
had good displays from Martin Wynne and
Brain O Malley .
