Book Reviews

5th/6th class are currently reading Bill Wall's 'The Boy Who Met Hitler.Even though the book is lighthearted it gives a good insight in to life in Ireland during World War 2 and opens up the different opinions of the public towards the war. However when we have completed the book I will get the pupils to give a much better review!!

Stanley Stanley was strange from the second he was born. He was holding his breath and winking at nurses. They took him home. When he was at the tricky stage about two years of age he painted his dog zapper white and put coal in the washing machine. When he went to school his parents had a bit more peace. He made a friend called Redser. They had a lot of fun together. Redser moved home. Stanley was very sad.

Reaching the Heights Mood While I read the story with my class I felt like reading on and on and on! When we had to put the book down I felt like picking it up again and just read without a care in the world! I think the best part of the story, the most exciting chapter, was when Naylor came home to find that his mum had been beaten up. It felt so realistic and you didn't know what was going to happen! But right the opposite, the funniest part was when Naylor had a fight with Sledges gang and Naylor hit Sledge right between the, well you know what I’m talking about! And on top of that, he broke Axles nose! The author, Peter Gunning, made it very descriptive. The thing I remember most about the story was when Naylor's mum got beaten up, it was excellent!! 5th class.
