Waterford Crystal Handball Awards:

The Annual Waterford Crystal Handball Awards were announced in Croke Park on Saturday 28th April. The players and officials who have given outstanding service to the game of handball over the past year as well as in previous decades were honoured. Maria Daly of Ballymacelligott Handball Club was awarded Young Player of the Year-Female for 1999. Minister James McDaid, Minister for Sport, presented her with her award. It is the first time that this award has come to Kerry and a great honour for the Club to have such a high profile player at this time. Maria was accompanied at the award ceremony by her parents Tom and Margaret and her sisters Sharon and Karen. Maria Daly is Ballymacelligott's leading young player and has been a great ambassador for the Club over the past year. We wish to congratulate her on her great achievement and it is well deserved. In 1999 she gained numerous trophies culminating in her capture of the USA National Junior Under 15 Title in San Francisco in December 1999
