60x30 County Championships

Three Ballymacelligott Players represented Kerry on 24th August at Broadford, Co. Limerick. The players won The Munster Juvenile Finals in the 60 x 30 Court.
U15 Singles: Denis Casey (Kerry) beat Seamus Lavin (Waterford) in a thrilling game 21/18, 21/11.
U15 Doubles: Stephen McSwiney and Seamus Moriarty (Kerry) beat Stephen Kirby & Anthony Burke (Waterford) 21/0, 21/2.

Community Games Handball

Our U13 and U15 Girls teams beat Carlow in the Community games National Semi Finals to reach the Finals against Mayo. The semi Finals were played on 29th August at Gormanstown College and the U13 team captained by Sandy McSwiney beat their opponents' 65/41. The U15 girls captained by Katherine Reidy won their match 90/25. The U13 team of Sandy McSwiney, Amanda Culloty, Christina O Keeffe, Emma Fleming and Ashley Prendiville went on to play Mayo on 30th August and won the coveted gold medals 71/34 Well-done girls. Congratulations also to their coach Siobhan Twomey and Breeda Riordan who have been involved with girls since last September. Best wishes to Ciara Moriarty who was also a member of the team but was unable to travel due to illness. The U15 team of Katherine Reidy, Maria Daly, Karen Culloty, Grainne De Lacey, Denise O Keeffe and Fiona Fleming also played Mayo in their match. They were beaten in the final 69/50. It is a great achievement to bring home the silver medals. Congratulations to all the girls and to Tom Daly who gave so much time to coaching the girls all year. The U15 Boys team captained by Denis Keane was beaten in the Semi Final by Kilkenny 81/38. They went on to play Tyrone for the bronze medal and won 87/67. The players in the other three teams were one year older than the up-and -coming Ballymacelligott Boys. The team was Denis Keane, Gary O Connor, Gene Griffin, Padraig McCarthy, Shane Twomey and Tim Prendiville
