Six Ballymacelligott players travelled to O Laughlin's on Saturday the 8th April for the 2nd round of the Waterford Crystal Irish Nationals. Five were victorious and are now in the all semi Finals. This is a great feat for the Club. The results are as follows:
Girls 19/U (=and under): Tracey Buckley (Ballymacelligott) defeated Susan Keegan (Dublin) 21/17, 15/21, 11/5.
Girls 17/U: Sharon Daly (Ballymacelligott) defeated Áine Lennon (Laois) 21/14, 21/4.
Girls 15/U: Maria Daly (Ballymacelligott) defeated Eimear Skehan (Kilkenny) 21/3, 21/3 and
Sandy McSwiney (Ballymacelligott) defeated Danielle O Connell (Tipperary) 21/6, 21/8.
Boys 15/U: Padraig McCarthy (Ballymacelligott) was defeated by Thomas Hughes (Kilkenny) 21/10, 21/16.
Gary O Connor beat Tomás Lennon (Laois) 21/5, 21/14 and went on to beat Thomas Hughes (Kilkenny) 21/18, 21/19.
Cumann Na mBunscoil
Two Ballymacelligott girls represented Munster at the Girls fun day of Cumann Na mBunscoil at Croke Park on Saturday last. They qualified having won the Munster Finals last weekend in Tralee. The girls were Sharon Twomey U11Singles and Ashley Prendiville U13 Singles of Clogher NS Ballymacelligott both girls won two games out of three played. Both will be playing in the same age group next year. We wish the boys from the parish well as they head for Croke Park next week.
The boys are: U11 Singles: Brendan Crowe (Nohoval NS), U11 Doubles: Cian Counihan and David Keane (Clogher NS) and U13 Doubles: Denis Buckley and Shane Dowling.
