Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme

The Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme is an enhanced Leaving Certificate which was introduced in 1994. It combines the academic strengths of the Leaving Certificate with three extra Link Modules: Preparation for the World of Work, Work Experience and Enterprise Education.

Work Experience 2002

The fourth year students undertook their work experience between the 17th and 21st December 2001. Students sampled the world of work in a variety of different professions including:

Accounting	Librarianship	Post Office
Construction	Nursing	North West Radio
Engineering	Physiotherapy	Groom & Stable Management

Factory Visits 2002

Group 1 of the fifth year students visited Masonite Ireland in Carrick-on-Shannon in October 2001. After a very informative talk students were given a tour around the plant which is one of the biggest in the country. A very enjoyable day was had by all.

Group 2 of the fifth year students visited MBNA in Carrick-on-Shannon in November 2001. MBNA is the first major call-centre to locate in this area. It was most interesting to discover how a call centre operates and many thanks must be given to the staff of MBNA who helped to make this visit a resounding success.
