THE BOARD OF MANAGEMENTThe Board of Management structure of Barefield N. S. enables parents, teachers and Patron's representatives to join together as partners in promoting the success of the school in all its work and in its links with the wider local community. The Board of Management of our school comprises of :-
THE PARENTS' COUNCIL The staff of the school are fortunate to have a very active, co-operative and supportive Parents' Council. The involvement of the Parents' Council is reflected in the equipment that they have provided for the school. Included in this equipment are a computer, photocopier, sports gear, musical instruments, band capes and audio equipment. In the past, they also subsidised the cost of the language tuition on an annual basis. Their generous contributions have enhanced every aspect of school life in Barefield National School. The members of the Parents' Council contribute to the formulation of all school policy documents in their capacity as partners in education. The role of the Parents' Council is to represent the views of the parents through their parental representatives on the Board of Management. If any new parents should wish to know more about the Parents' Council, they are encouraged to contact either the Chairperson or the Secretary, whose names can be obtained from the school. |
SUCCESS & ACHIEVEMENTSThe school has had many achievements in its time, due to the great dedication of our staff and students. The following are a list of some of the achievements to date:-
Due to the introduction of computers in our school, the pupils have become very interested in journalism. As a result, the pupils of our school have published numerous books among, which was "Our Time To Shine" . We were honoured to have the former President of Ireland, Dr Patrick Hillary in our school to launch the book. This great news was reported in the local papers and as a result, the Minister of Education, Minister Mary O' Rourke T. D. invited the pupils involved to her office in the Department of Education. In 1992, the renowned author, Alice Taylor, launched three collections of Prose and Poetry by the pupils of Ranganna 111- V11.
Barefield N. S. in 1989 were fortunate enough to be selected for the R. T. E. programme, "School around the Corner", hosted by Gerry Ryan. We feel that Barefield N. S. was selected because of their wide range of extracurricular activities available and the wonderful talent in the school.
THE WORKS In October 1993 Barefield N. S. entered the Children's Television Quiz Programme "The Works". It is a very competitive quiz programme, which covers many subjects within the school curriculum. With Barefield National School's high standard of education, the competition was won with flying colours. |
