Following the raging success of its phenomenal debut sell-out New Years Eve event at Belfastıs Odyssey Arena, leading global club-brand Gatecrasher today (4th January 2001) revealed plans to return to Ireland with a massive event to at Dublinıs infamous Point Depot on 3rd February 2001.  The event will be headlined by the worldıs top DJs JUDGE JULES, TIMO MASS, SANDER KLEINENBERG, DJ TIESTO, SCOTT BOND and ROBBIE BUTLER .

Building on the explosive NYE Event, 2001 sees Gatecrasher put into progress the mother of all master plans.  Promoters are intent on adding a cutting, fresh dimension to Irelandıs already burgeoning dance scene. The Dublin event is Gatecrasherıs first ever self-promoted event in conjunction with POD & Influx, in southern Ireland and marks a series of events planned for Northern and Southern Ireland in 2001.

The event will see Gatecrasher continue in itsı quest to become the worldıs leading super-club in terms of musical and production innovation.  As well as boasting an awe-inspiring line-up of leading dance luminaries, clubbers attending can prepare to witness Gatecrasher blast traditional boundaries and reach phenomenal new heights with the awe-inspiring video imagery, light and laser shows and state of the art sound.

Kicking off the event is Radio 1 dance don JUDGE JULES.  The ever popular DJ never fails to disappoint.  Jules returns to Ireland following his uproarious set in Belfast at NYE.  Expect Euphoria and then some.

Following Jules is Gatecrasherıs newest resident the phenomenal SANDER KLEINENBERG.  The 28 year-old Dutch DJ and producer has been firing up dance-floors all over the UK this as well as performing at a successful series of events for Gatecrasher in Ibiza. His productions like "My Lexicon" and the other tracks for his acclaimed series of "Four Series E.Ps" have found favour with clubbers and a whole host of DJs from Sasha to Tenaglia.

Joining Sander is genre-busting German master TIMO MASS.  TIMO MAAS has had a simply massive year by anyoneıs standards catapulted into the highest echelons of the DJ fraternity with stunning, percussive funk-fuelled sets all over the world. Every remix and production he does gains widespread club appeal, with tracks like "Ubik" and "Der Schieber" going onto storm the national charts. His remix of "Dooms Night" by Azzido Da Bass smashed all the traditional musical boundaries and is widely regarded as the "Tune of 2000".

DJ TIESTO also makes a rare DJ appearance in Ireland for Gatecrasher.  The super-talented Dutch remixer/DJ/Producer is best known for his phenomenally mind-blowing dance track under the "GOUREYELLA" moniker.  He was also the remixer behind last yearıs best loved dance stormer Auroraıs haunting "Silence" featuring Irelandıs own soulful superstar SARAH MCLAUGHLAN. His phenomenal skills have also seen him produce five compilation albums world-wide.  He promises to get Ireland fired up with his pure, mix of liquid techno.

Resident Gatecrasher hero SCOTT BOND joins the premier line-up.  Scottıs innovate style and diverse musical taste and knowledge has resulted in him becoming one of the best loved DJs in the country.

Completing the top-flight is Irish hero and Pod resident ROBBIE BUTLER.  Following a phenomenally successful, floor ripping set at Gatecrasher NYE, Robbie promises to seduce revellers yet again with a turbo-fuelled set littered with filthy funky and pure and sexy sounds.

Also performing on the night will be the winner of the massive

AND THEN THERE WERE SEVEN!

sonarstate.com and Eircell 'Ready to Go' Announce
the 7 Dance Acts Chosen by Sony as Finalists.

Spawned from an idea by new multi-media company Noisey, and Lynn Cosgrave of Sony Music UK, and after months of painstaking groundwork, sonarstate.comıs search for talent - in partnership with Eircell 'Ready to Go' - is preparing for the culmination of its efforts the final.

The intense campaign, involving months of research, planning, pitches and meetings, is hurtling towards the finish line, with the hopes of seven Irish twenty-somethings pinned firmly to its coat tails.

The original concept was simple: why is it, when Irish musical talent has such an impressive standing on the world stage, we have little or no representation from our burgeoning dance culture up there with the best?

From this basic premise came sonarstate.com, a collective whose aim was to seek out the latest talent in our youth culture and offer them a first-ever once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show the world just what 21st century Ireland has to offer.

They succeeded admirably!

With the support of Eircellıs ŒReady To Goı, sonarstate.comıs key players had the backing required to produce a package which was enticing and credible enough to attract the kind of talent they sought.

With an international recording deal, a publishing and management deal as well as live performance dates at both the high profile final, and the massively popular Homelands festivals world-wide, up for grabs sonarstate.com were certainly playing for keeps.

Utilising the freshest technology favoured by the target generation - Mobile, Internet and MP3 sonarstate.com gleaned an impressive response from their call to arms.

Hundreds of applications were received over their website (www.sonarstate.com), the calibre of which astounded even the most optimistic of Sony Music UKıs A & R team whose job it is to select the talent of the future.

And so the hard work beganŠ..whittling the entrants down to the finalists.

Although only days before Christmas, even the fevered attention of the shoppers in the Virgin Megastore on Dublinıs Aston Quay was distracted when the seven finalists selected by sonarstate.com made their public debut with the semi-anonymous Speakerboy.

FOR ALL OF THEM IT WAS THEIR FIRST TASTE OF SUCCESS, BUT FOR ONE OF THEM IT IS ONLY THE START.

… Jennifer Byrne and Louise Noonan, a mere 24 and 22 respectively, are two Dubliners who go by the name Factor X and their track ŒOutlookı positively screams "listen to us".

… Twenty-six year-old Dubliner John Lawless is no stranger to the music world as he has already released a single ŒInfinityı.   Who knows? perhaps his track ŒFreefallı will be the one to take him into the music worldıs stratosphere.

… Robbie Dunne (aka Straker) regularly gigs around the country with four musicians so perhaps with ŒSamui Funkı heıll find himself venturing further afield.

… Freakfunk are aged 22 and 23 and both hail from Dublin. Their style is fresh, funky and downright ŒLoopyı but they show remarkable range and buckets of promise!

… The interestingly named Stockholm City is a 28 year old Dubliner. Thatıs all we know - except that the tracks put forward ooze bar culture and scream sophistication.

… Hugh Drumm, & Adam Lynch are Dublin based act Specimen.  A highly experienced sound engineer, Hugh is no stranger to production having been involved in some of the earliest dance releases and remixes in Ireland.

… And finally, there is Kyproject. A 25 year-old, currently based in Sydney, Australia, Kyproject "can return to Ireland anytime if need be" and assures that "any music I wrote was in Gorey". ŒTrack 1ı is an unrelenting, big beat affair which was produced for the competition even though Kyproject only bought a PC in January "when I first started writing dance music".

[Niamh Mc Donough, Marketing Manager, Eircell 'Ready to go' is delighted with the success of sonarstate.com.  "Our fastest growing market is youth with their thirst for new technology and futurist communications.  Weıre proud to be partnering a dynamic project that is contemporary, cutting edge with all the qualities of an heroic quest."]

THE WINNER OF SONARSTATE.COM PERFORMS LIVE AT THE GATECRASHER EVENT IN THE POINT ON 3 FEBRUARY.
