School Code of Behaviour

In an effort to maintain a caring and educational environment for all pupils who attend school, Scoil an Chroí Ró-Naofa has in place a Code of Behaviour and Conduct and an Anti-Bullying Policy. The main rules of school are:

  • The requirement for pupils to behave well generally and spend their day in an orderly fashion.
  • That pupils show respect for each other and treat peers in an appropriate manner.
  • That pupils behave in an orderly manner in class, corridors, playgrounds etc.
  • That pupils are polite and courteous to all staff and adults in school and obey requests and instructions.
  • That pupils, in the interest of safety, behave in an orderly fashion arriving and leaving school and travelling on school buses. Parents collecting pupils are asked not to park in front of school entrances as this can cause a hazard for pupils leaving.
  • That pupils do not use abusive or inappropriate language at any time.
  • That pupils wear the full school uniform at all times.
  • That in the event of an absence, pupils bring a note signed by parent or guardian. Similarly, if a pupil has an appointment and must leave the school during the day, a signed note should be given to the class teacher.
  • That homework assignments are completed and if not, a note of explanation is signed by his/her parent or guardian.
  • That pupils observe all school rules when on extra curricular activities representing the school.

The Code of Behaviour also outlines the variety of approaches, including sanctions and rewards, the school uses to deal with incidents of misbehaviour. Parents are requested to support the school in implementing the Code of Behaviour within the school.

The school is also committed to addressing the issue of "bullying behaviour" and has a procedure in place which strives to assist in preventing such behaviour.

The complete versions of both the Code of Behaviour and the Anti-Bullying Policy may be consulted at the school if desired.
