School Information

Infant Classes

The school has two infant classes. Junior Infants and Senior Infants both follow a curriculum laid down by the Department of Education and Science. The school attaches great importance to these classes as this early education provides the building blocks for pupils' subsequent education throughout the school. School times for infant classes are as follows:

Junior Infants

  • Week 1 9.20 - 12.00
  • Week 2 9.20 - 12.30
  • Week 3 9.20 - 12.30
  • Week 4 9.20 - 1.00
  • Thereafter 9.20 - 2.00

Senior Infants

  • Senior Infants 9.20 - 2.30

The following would be of great assistance to the infant class teachers:

  • That pupils can manage items of his/her clothing, shoe laces etc. Where a pupil has particular difficulty, parents might consider using clothes/shoes with velcro straps etc.
  • That pupils bring lunches and food that they can manage themselves.
  • That parents would inform the class teacher of any particular difficulties the child may have.
  • That pupils do not bring toys to school.
  • Sometimes parents delay unduly when dropping their children to school - this sometimes can do more harm than good!! Obviously this will depend on the individual needs of each child.
  • That all jumpers, coats, lunchboxes, pencils, school bags etc. are labelled with child's name.

Every effort will be made to ensure that your child settles into school and please do not hesitate to contact the class teacher if you have a query or worry.
