Stradbally Town

Every year in August, the town becomes a raimbow of colour with its flower festival. At the same time it clangs and hisses to the sound of the Steam Rally organised by the Irish Steam Preservation Society. both events attract thousands of visitors from ireland and abroad. There is also a steam museum with permanent exhibits such as an 80Mph Beltfast fire engine and a former Dublin tram.
The town is largely 18th century and was developed by the Cosby family, some of whom live in the 17th century Stradbally Hall, which is not open to the public.
n the east side are the remains of Ougheval, St Colman's 6th- century monastery, thought to be the place where "The book of Leinster a remarkable historical collection, was collated by monks. It is now preserved in Trinity College, Dublin.
