For our SpinAWeb Project we wanted to do something original, something which had never been done before in our terrain.

Following a troop consultation, we decided that we would like to do a project on our community. The idea for this project came from Marcella, a girl in our camp. We wanted the project to be about a place that had been associated with Fermoy for a number of years. The place had to be local and easily accessible so that we could research it and so the Army Barracks of Fermoy was the ideal choice.

The aim of our project is to conserve the history of the Army Barracks of Fermoy and to conserve and preserve the literature and books written by local authors about the Fermoy Army Barracks.

Another target is to follow the path of Fermoy Army Barracks, from when the first troops arrived in 1797 until the last troops departed in 1999.
