Equestrian and Hunting

Within ten minutes of Oranmore, beginners and experts alike can enjoy riding lessons, treks and trails in the nearby countryside. The famous Galway Hunt (Galway Blazers) is also located nearby.

Sailing/Windsurfing

Rinville Sailing Club, Oranmore is the main centre of Dinghy Sailing, Yachting and Windsurfing in the West of Ireland, offering a safe anchorage and a sheltered inner bay. Renville Park

Renville Park is located just five minutes from Oranmore. It is a wonderful amenity, created around an ancient castle, a stately home and a fine estate demesne which dates from the 16th century. With an extensive network of walks through woodland and open farmland and by sea, the park offers a recreational facility of outstanding quality and beauty. It also features some superb flora and fauna. The park has picnic areas and a children's adventure playground. It is open all year round and admission is free.

Archaeological/History

The 15th century castle in Oranmore and many country houses that dot the landscape will enlighten the visitor as to Ireland's most recent past. A glimpse of prehistoric Ireland can be seen by visiting the dolmens, ringforts, round tower and cooking spit located around the village. Coole Park, Thoor Ballylee and Athenry Castle are many of the other significant attractions nearby. Come and discover, you will be enriched by the experience.

Galway Arts Festival
An annual festival which celebrates Galway as the cultural capital of Ireland, and as such, focuses on a week of various national and international musical and theatre productions. Every year Macnas (the most acclaimed arts company in Ireland) organise a parade through the winding streets of Galway City, which is usually a kaleidoscope of colour coupled with high energy drum rhythms. Great fun for all the family!
