Problems receiving the weekly club
e-mail???
We have had reports from some members
using GMail and Hotmail accounts have problems receiving the weekly
e-mails. Both GMail and Hotmail make changes to their system to try and
reduce the level of SPAM or Junk mail getting through. As Sean sends
out the weekly mail to a lot of GMail and Hotmail users at the same
time, it can be sometimes get seen incorrectly as SPAM.
Have a look at the instructions below and see if this cures the
problem.
GMail.........
It
seems that any e-mail going from an Eircom account to a GMail account
is seen as SPAM.
To counteract this, you need to take
the following steps....
1) Go to the SPAM folder and
look for
the club e-mail.

2) You then need to click on the box
shown and then click the box 'Not spam'. This will move the club e-mail
from your SPAM folder to your Inbox. It also tells Gmail that this mail
is valid and it should allow through any future club e-mails.
Update 6th Feb
2009........We have now made
a few changes to the way the weekly e-mail is sent out. If you follow
the instructions above, it should be enough to fix the problem. If you
don't receive the club e-mail at the usual time, be sure to check your
Spam folder.

Hotmail.........
It would seem as if Hotmail has problems receiving mails from
Eircom accounts. In tests that we have done, the first 2 e-mails that
go an Eircom account to a Hotmail account get lost! There are definetly
sent by Eircom but Hotmail does not show them. For the 3rd mail, it
usually goes into the 'Junk' folder.

So you need to open the 'Junk' folder, tick the box as shown and then
click on 'Not Junk'.

This moves the club mail from your Junk folder to your Inbox. In tests
that we did, the next mail from Sean went to the Inbox and no other
action was required. If you don't receive the club e-mail at
the usual time, be sure to check your Junk folder.
Update : 20th March 2009
It seems as if a few Hotmail users are still not getting the weekly
club e-mails despite the fact that other Hotmail users are.
A possible solution might be to set Sean Cotter up as one of your
contacts.
Here's how to do it...
a) First of all, click on the link called 'Contact List'

b) Then click 'Edit'

c) Fill out the form with just the basic details. Make sure you get the
e-mail address correct...it's zero zero one, not the letter 'o'.
Press save at the bottom of the page. Sean Cotter is now set up as one
of your contacts and future mails should arrive ok.
