Ambulances: The Red Cross currently has 75 fully equipped ambulances including having an Automatic External Defibrillator. Members are trained to Emergency Medical First Responder level ensuring that we can provide the optimal care at duties and also can respond in the event of a Major Emergency. Red Cross AED Operators on first aid or ambulance duties are now in a position to provide 'First Responder'-style defibrillation and resuscitation to victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrests, while awaiting the arrival of the Statutory Emergency Services.

Entertainment
Troupe: The Entertainment Troupe brings laughter and fun to children's
hospitals with their highly developed range of performance skills. These include
storytelling, face painting, balloon modelling and clowning. Although they
perform in day centre's and at street festivals, it is their rounds of the
children's hospitals that win the brightest smiles of all because of the happiness
they bring to sick children.
Babysitting Course: Teenagers aged 14 and upwards can be trained in best practice
techniques in all areas of babysitting based on a comprehensive course. The
training includes What makes a good baby-sitter; The roles, rights and responsibilities
of baby-sitters; child care skills; accident prevention and fire safety; child
First Aid; CPR; and child protection.
Therapeutic Hand Care: The Red Cross Hand Care Service is provided by Volunteers and consists of a hand massage and manicure which is given to long-stay hospital patients, elderly people, people in their own homes and to those suffering from depression. The relaxing effect of the massage is itself beneficial, especially if joints are beginning to stiffen or arthritis is setting in.
The manicure is a boost to the morale and the whole treatment is a way to communicate care through touch. The fact that a Hand Care Volunteer spends time with a patient can often be the most valuable aspect of the service - a perhaps rare opportunity for social interaction and to build relationships. The massage treatment is suitable for male and female patients.
Overseas Services: Irish Red Cross delegates or aid workers are sent to work overseas on Red Cross relief operations. The society also organises appeals to raise awareness and funds during emergencies and organise relief supplies to be sent to areas experiencing conflict or natural disasters.
