School History
Ballylanders N.S. spans three centuries. It was built in 1893.
It consisted of two schools - one for the boys and one for the
girls.
The enrolment was 250. Later these two schools amalgamated under
one Principal.
Now, it has three very spacious classrooms.
In September 1998 a new era dawned - an extension was built to
the existing school comprising of a toilet block for boys, girls
and staff, a staff room and a strong room. This was history in
the making - as from now on pupils and teachers alike do not
have the drudgery of donning their coats and heading out into
the back yard to use the toilet.
The old toilet blocks were converted into a lunch room, a store
room and two classrooms, one for the Resource teacher.
Our yard has been surfaced with tarmacadam.
Our school is a very airy, bright, clean, spacious and warm.
Overall a nice building to work in.
