Gymnasts

At Tydavnet Gym Club we have basically two groups of gymnasts - those who do it for fun, and those who compete.

The recreational gymnasts (the fun-ny ones) train only once a week, every Friday night. For an hour and a half they participate in a gym class, geared mostly towards fun, but they learn a lot and progress very fast at their gymnastic skills. They use most of the equipment, learning basic elements all the while. Their age range is about 5 - 12 years old.

Our competitive team trains more intesively and more often. This group of 9 - 16 year old gymnasts, train a basic 5/6 hour week. They work on all aparatus - beam, floor, bars, parallel bars, vault, pommel horse, rings. They specialise in vault and floor peaking for many national and regional competitions. Many competitions are held annually. To view this year's calender in full click here.

As well as participating in artistic gymnastics, these gymnasts also train in acrobatics and tumbling. Although the club is quite new to these diciplines, we have already had several pairs and a couple of tumblers, progress to the nationals, and return with medals.
