looking
up at crib goch, the first bit of the snowdon horseshoe. this
is the bank holiday monday, the last day we have here. there's
been massive flooding and very strong winds all weekend, in both
the south of england and wales.

still on the way up.
the weather starts to close in. the hail starts and we also
get a taste of the wild winds trashing the top of crib goch.
sometime near this the decision is made to bail out. in any case
the ridge can only be accessed by a slab which is now covered
in soft, wet snow.
we have to back climb the scrambly bits.

olwyn and carl in pete's eats, llanberis - not the place to
go for a light lunch. great caff, lovely big mugs of hot chocolate.
enormous plates of chips.
time to head off for the ferry - hoping it will be sailing.
earlier on that morning the news said that 6,000 people were
stranded in ferries because it was unsafe to dock. there's a
delay but the h.s.s. does sail - zig zagging against gale force
winds. not too many happy bunnies on that crossing!
