Book Description
This seminal work made its debut in 1977, and it has
since remained the most important reference for Rolfers
around the world. In this new edition, the late Dr. Rolf
illustrates her theory and practice of Structural
Integration, which brings the body into alignment and
balance by manipulation of the connective tissue. Rolfing
has helped thousands of people to stand taller, look
better, move with greater ease, and have a greater sense
of vitality and well-being.
This is the original and classic text,
with more than 600 illustrations and photographs.
An indispensible reference for the
hundreds of Rolfers in this country, it will also appeal
to other professional bodyworkers and the interested lay
person.

Book Description
This is a user-friendly guide to integrating Rolfing and
yoga as a multi-disciplinary approach to body balancing.
Through stories, illustrations, and photos, the reader is
lead through a deepening of her or his understanding of
structure, function, and somatic awakening. The tools,
Rolfing and yoga, are presented as a seemless blend as
two systems that enhance the benefit of each other. The
only book that sells more copies through the Rolf
Institute is the book about Rolfing that Ida Rolf wrote
herself. A must read for anyone undergoing body based
therapies and any kind of yoga training.

Dean Juhan, author of "Job's Body"
"The teaching and learning described in this
book are precisely the insights and the strategies for
letting go of limiting models and for endlessly exploring
the ever-renewed growing edge of our sense of the optimum.
This is not merely healthcare, this is engagement in
personal evolution. And coupled with the other branches
of education and medicine, its results will not merely
return us to a familiar functional norm after injury or
illness, but to astonish us with possibilites and
capacites we never dreamt we could own."

Book Description
Written by an expert on alternative bodywork, this book
presents techniques for manipulating the soft tissues of
the back in a safe, simple manner. The method avoids the
high-velocity, low-amplitude thrusting techniques
employed by chiropractors. Instead, it utilizes the
intuitive sense of somatic bodyworkers combined with the
proven theory and technique of Rolfing to provide safe
and effective treatment.

A Reader Review
Most Accessible Book on this subject Yet!, May 19,

Reviewer: Valerie Berg from

This book is easy, reader friendly and accessible for
somatic practitioners to understand clearly what one is
feeling both at the boney and tissue levels. Jeff has
given us his years of practicing this in distilling the
information of spinal biomechanics into linguistically
and technically clear steps for easing joint fixations
and facet restrictions anywhere along the spine via soft
tissue techniques and a whole body approach. Excellent
drawings and photographs accompany the text for even
further clarity. The anatomy is all there plus easy ways
to understand what to do even when you don't understand
why. The book is a tour of every facet of the spine from
sacrum to occiput in the possible things one might feel
and wonder what the heck to do about it rather than vague
mashing around. Included is the constant reference to
working with the whole body/person. Anyone "working"
on bodies would benefit from having this manual and
keeping it close at hand.

A way of life!
Some Tai-Chi masters say that you should strive to do Tai-Chi
so well that you don't do it anymore. Mary Bond's book
BALANCING YOUR BODY is a western approach to this ideal.
This is a method of exploration, discovery and action to
achieve dynamic balance and harmony in a constantly
changing internal/external environment. My personal
situation precludes formal exercise in definite locations
or with groups. Of the extensive search that I've made,
her methods are the most interesting and potentially the
most useful. However it goes in practice, I will always
thank her for educating me to the difference between
symmetry and balance.

Simply a brilliant guide on how to move ones body
Having read about and tried a lot of psycho-body-therapy
techniques, I was very impressed to find something this
different and efficient. Using relaxation as the primary
vehicle of exploration, amazing results occur - fx
improving movement flexibility more that "hardcore"
streching. Mary Bond guides one to experience ones body
in a new, more rich and subtle way. Unlike many related
books, this one offers lots of concrete knowledge and
advice, Mary Bond is not afraid to share her insights. I
cannot recommend this book highly enough - it's simply
brilliant.
