Masonite League Division 3

Bornacoola 2-6      Fenagh 0-11

Bornacoola recorded their second victory of their Divison 3 campaign when they had a narrow victory over Fenagh in Dromod on Sunday June 4th. Despite dominating for long periods, Fenagh couldn't quite make the breakthrough for the goal which would have set them up for victory. In fact, the first half was nearly all Fenagh and excellent scores from Johnny Mc Govern Sean Logan, Kenneth Kilkenny and Enda Mc Kiernan seemed to have set them on the road for victory.

However, their half time lead of two ponts was scant reward for the amount of possession they enjoyed in that opening period. Indeed but for a well taken goal from Morgan Shanley and the woodwork at the other end which denied Kein Doonan a certain goal, it could have been much worse for the Junior B champions of last year.

The second half saw the Bors come into it much better at midfield, but when Kevin Doonan extended the Fenagh lead to three points midway through the second half, it looked like the points were going to the Abbey men. Then, in the space of a few minutes, Aiden Reilly took a major hand in affairs. First he scored a tremenduos individual point and then careered through the Fenagh defence to be hauled down for a penalty which was converted by Trevor Howard. Amazingly within this two minute spell the Bors had gone a point up.

This was a lead they would keep until the final whistle despite some excellent freetaking from Francis Duignan, with Bornacoola's Philip Howard notching the vital late scores for the Bors.
