Ladies Football in Bornacoola
Junior
With an extremely talented group of footballers and the addition of returnees from Annaduff we blazed a trail through our group games, untested and four points clear awaiting our final opponents. Unfortunately, St. Joseph's, an Aughavas/Carrigallen combination, took the title by an agonizing one point margin with the aid of a late goal. And so we look to 2000 and hope that the lessons learned will provide a junior title and promotion to senior football.

Minor
With most of this team eligible next year we were hopeful rather than anticipant. Having accounted for two of our three group opponents we found ourselves in a semi-final with Aughawillan on September 26. With a large number of their Senior Championship winning squad on duty we gave as well as we got but after a high scoring hour the Willies had reached the final.

Under 16
Having won last year we were determined to achieve back to back successes. In determined fashion the girls accounted for all opposition bar Cloone on their way to the September 24 decider in Fenagh. Having beaten this Cloone squad in the corresponding Under 14 final two years ago we were hopeful of a repeat. It wasn't to be, however, as Cloone hung on to inflict a one-point defeat. The girls put in a very spirited defence of their crown and we're very confident they will provide astern challenge to all opposition in the new millennium.

Under 14
At this level we proved as competitive as in previous years, recording similar large victories and scorelines. We qualified for the semi-final as group winners and faced Cloone in Annaduff. On the evening our opponents were physically much stronger and that provided them with a vital advantage and they qualified for the final with only four points to spare following a last minute goal.

Under 12
The aforementioned inexperience of our Schoolgirls carried forward into the under 12 grade. However, having had no team to report on at this level at last year's A.G.M. it was a step in the right direction to be back in competition at the youngest level, despite being unable to record victory.
