BPOB - Picture Gallery - Dateline . . . . .February  25th, 2005

This match/gathering took place in the White Fathers ground, on Tuesday December 28th.
A kind of ‘blow the undigested turkey out of the bloated system’ exercise.

I don’t know how people feel about such detailed exposure of their ‘leisure activities’.
Is anyone watching? Does anyone care? Should anyone be interested? Could anyone give a XXXX?

‘Healthy pursuit’!
Yea, except that some are less inclined to pursue than others.
And the evidence is incontrovertible.

There are too many pics to bother with captions. Besides, some of the captions write themselves. Some others are best ignored. Some might be defamatory.

It is rather informative to look at the people in the background, and see what they are doing (or not, in many cases).
-- Joe Darcy, on the phone in the middle of a match;
 -- the loneliness of an abandoned goalkeeper;
-- Brian ‘Mr. Perpetual Motion’ Miller standing around in at least half of the pictures;
 -- ‘Waller’ seemingly always looking the other way when the ball is close by;
-- Mick Murphy making a deep impression on the battered world;
-- damning evidence of John Morrissy’s ‘wandering’ arms;
-- the first appearance of the 2 newest ‘old boys’ >> Colm Lakes and Mark Fox
 -- the Sisyphean futility of 2 men rolling a dumb object across the pitch

Just to give some idea of scale:
The original digital images, in their native uncompressed, high-res format are quite large -- measuring approx 30” x 23”.
Naturally, those sizes are dramatically reduced, as is the resolution, to allow them to be viewed with reasonable clarity, and quick download, from the website.
Where possible, when cropping the images, I tried to allow the true scope of certain panoramas to reveal themselves. To display a broader spread of the team formations. To enhance the dramatic ebb-and-flow that is the true Bushy Park football match. To capture the little idiosyncrasies that players exhibit. To answer some questions. To pose some conundrums.
And to best show the ‘athlete supreme’ that is Mick Murphy, striding across an empty landscape.

Anyway, . . . . . . . . . .
If, for some perverted reason, you quite fancy (not in the Biblical sense) some image you’ve seen, and wish a copy of it: Contact the Merchandising Manager, and, for a ducat or three, we might provide a copy of the original.
