HANDSPUN EMOTICON LIBRARY - INSTRUCTIONS & CONTACT INFO
Feel free to use these images on all Ezboards and other discussion
boards that allow HTML or EzCode/UBB image tags. Pick the image you want in your
post, CUT & PASTE the image tag from below the image to your message. (To make
sure your post will appear as you want it, select the PREVIEW option before
submitting your post. If you see mistakes, you can go back in your browser and
edit the message. *All Ezboards have the Preview option, but other discussion
forums don't necessarily have it*)
The orange image tags below each emoticon are HTML tags - if you want to use
these emoticons on a board that doesn't allow HTML, replace the HTML tag with
the blue EzCode/UBB tag as follows:
HTML image tag: <img src=http://www.address.of.the.image>
EzCode image tag: [img]http://www.address.of.the.image[/img]
Select category from the menu on the left.

Messengers & E-mail: We often get e-mail
from people who are asking how to use these emoticons in various instant messengers
or in e-mail. We can't help you with the messengers as they usually have their own
emoticons, but if you want to use our emoticons in e-mail messages, just treat them
like any other image files - copy them to your hard drive, and insert them to your
messages from there. See the Help files of your e-mail programme or contact your web
mail provider if you need more assistance.
If you need more detailed help, e-mail us:
stello@brayforum.com
Bookmark this page - we occasionally add more faces and other images. If you would
like us to make a certain kind of a face / animation, e-mail us at:
stello@brayforum.com
(Some of these emoticons were originally designed by others, in which case we have
customised them further and collected them to this one page to be available on one
server.)
If you would like to post a link to this page on your own site, please use this code:
<a href=http://homepage.eircom.net/~bray/em.htm><img src=http://homepage.eircom.net/~bray/em/handspun.gif border=0></a>
It will appear as:
If you're after some more violent emoticons / miniature images, head to
Crack's Smilies, where you'll find loads
of different images by loads of different designers.
NOTE: Please update your bookmarks!
LATEST NEWS:
May 21, 2003 - New images added to food and gardening categories..
March 19, 2003 - New images added to several categories..
June 8, 2002 - New images added to several categories..
January 27, 2002 - We've added new messenger-type faces in
appropriate categories, and there's a new category for miscellaneous The Sims
objects! There will be more of these, eventually..
December 17, 2001 - The Christmassy images can be found in
"Home / House / Xmas" category, and we will probably leave them there for good,
even after Christmas (you might want to use them for Christmas in May, etc..).
We have also added a couple of miscellaneous images in almost all categories,
so browse them all to find the new pics. Happy Holidays!
November 12, 2001 - We added several country flags (see
"Occasions / Flags" category) and a handful of ribbons (see "Words / Symbols /
Money" category). If you notice an outdated country flag, or if you'd like us
to add a missing country flag, please do e-mail us about it.
October 29, 2001 - We've added new Euro notes and coins, since
many European countries will be sharing the same currency from January 2002. You
will find them in "Words / Symbols / Money" category. The quality of the coins
isn't the best possible, but rather than making bigger 'emoticons', we try to
keep them small enough not to mess with the spacing of lines in normal message
board text, which is usually Verdana size 2..
July 27, 2001 - After moving the emoticons to Eircom on June 11,
we left them in their original URLs as well, to avoid getting a sudden bunch of
broken images. We originally guaranteed to keep them there until the end of June,
but we did in fact keep them there for nearly a month longer. We have now deleted
them from their old URLs as the access logs were still enormous. The URL of the
whole library is: http://homepage.eircom.net/~bray/em.htm
June 11, 2001 - These emoticons have become so popular that our
ISP has given us an ultimatum; either we move them to a free server or we fork
out extra money every month to pay for the bandwith.. (We did select that
particular ISP as they had no mention of bandwith limitations, so technically
we should be fine, but we do see this matter from their point of view as well.)
From today on, when you access the same old URL, it has automatically redirected
you to this site (yes, we are now at Eircom, *gasp!*). If you've just been using
our emoticons for your posts on various boards, you might not even notice the
difference (slightly longer URLs for cut & pasting), but if you are a board admin
and are using our emoticons on your boards as posticons *etc*, read the following
text carefully:
ATTENTION BOARD ADMINISTRATORS: From June 11, our emoticons are stored
on a different server. Please update the URLs on your boards if you are using
these images as posticons or other fixed parts of your boards. We can only
guarantee to keep all images in their original URLs until the end of June 2001,
after which they will be at Eircom only. If you really, really want to
make sure the images will stay in their original URLs for longer, contact us
for the possibility of contributing towards the fee for extra bandwith (however,
if you are not prepared to make any contribution, don't bother sending abuse -
we've paid for your emoticons so far and we didn't have to!)
May 9, 2001 - Our emoticon library was getting way too big to be on just
one page, so we now have it organised in categories which can grow as we add
more images.
The 'traditional' emoticons (or smilies) are all categorised by emotions and
colours. Happy emoticons are mostly pale yellow, sad ones are pale blue,
embarrassed and surprised ones are pink, and angry ones are red. There are a
few exceptions..
There are also faces in "FAITH / RELIGION / PRIESTS" and "TINY / SICK / MISC."
categories..
Some images are displayed in more than one category to make it easier for you
to find what you're looking for.
NOTE: Remember that these emoticons are meant for non-commercial use only. If
you would like to use these for something else, contact us first.
