Bree Youth Club was founded in 2000 as a small after schools group which has grown to a fully fledged Youth Club with over 110 members who meet in Bree Community Centre on Friday nights. The Club is divided into two Clubs - Junior and Senior. Juniors are aged 10 years to end of National School and Seniors are aged Secondary School to 19 years old. Junior Club is from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Senior Club is from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Activities on a normal Club Night include indoor soccer, badminton, pool, board games, challenge games and lots more. It is an ideal opportunity for young people to meet up with friends and make some new friends.
Our Club is affiliated to FDYS - Ferns Diocesan Youth Service and we are governed by the rules of the FDYS and the NYF - National Youth Federation.
Other Activities include the County, Regional and National Finals of the Senior Vareity Show, County Finals of Junior Variety Show, County and Regional Finals of Sports Programme, Prison Visit and Tour, Senior and Junior Discos, All Ireland and County Banner Competitions, Drugs Awareness Programme, Christmas Youth Mass and Gift Appeal, Christmas Carol Service, Sponsored Walks, Cinema Nights, Video Nights, Bowling Nights and lots more.
We have also been the holders of the All Ireland Banner Award for the last two years running and we aim to make it three in a row this year when entries are judged at the All Ireland Variety Finals.
Currently the Club is run by a small committee of Leaders. The Committee is as follows:
Chairperson: Charlie Parnell
Secretary and PRO: Elaine Dunne
Treasurer: Christina Walsh
Committee: Mary Kelly, Jemma Kennedy, Jenny Creane and Cathy Murphy.
As always we need new leaders to help keep the club going and come up with new and interesting ideas and activities for Club Members. Further information on the Club and becoming a Leader can be had by contacting Elaine at (054) 9247613 or e-mail breeparish@eircom.net
