LENTEN CAMPAIGN The Trocaire Lenten
Campaign this year is about 26 million of our brothers and sisters worldwide who have been
forced to abandon their homes because of armed conflict and violence. People such as Khalid and his family who appear on
this years Trocaire box, are forced from their homes in terrifying circumstances
losing their land, their livelihoods, and often even their own family members. As Christians, we are challenged this Lent to open
our eyes to the pain of these displaced peoples. We
are called, like the Good Samaritan, to go to the help of our suffering brothers and
sisters. One very effective way of doing this
is by supporting Trocaires Lenten Campaign this year or by doing the 24 hour fast on
March 6/7th and remembering to pick up your Trocaire box today. |

Bree Youth Club had two entries in the regional final of the variety show which was held
recently in Oola, Tipperary. Congratulations to Joseph Hogan and Sean Hogan who won in the
"spotlight" category. They wowed the crowd with their performance of two Elvis
songs, "Heartbreak Hotel " and "Blue Suede Shoes" and will go forward
to the National Final in Maynooth on Saturday 7th March. Although our show dance troupe -
Lucy Forte, Leah Curran, Johanna Wickham, Sadhbh Kirwan, Shauna Dunne, Grace Donavan and
Shonagh Spratt Murphy - were beaten by only a few points, due to their outstanding
performance, they have been chosen as a wildcard entry and will also take part in the
National Final. The very best of luck to both acts. Bree
Youth Club will also take part in the National Banner Competition and credit goes to Emma
O'Neill and Marie Parker for creating a wonderful banner for the club. Thank you to
Michelle Hogan and Cait Doyle, who choreographed the showdance and to Chloe Forte who
handled make up on the day. Thanks also to the Bree
Youth Club leaders and to the parents who have driven the kids back and forth to Bree
Community Centre for rehearsals. Well done to Eamon Jones who took part in the table
tennis county final.
