Pugin 200: A Celebration of Colour
St Aidans
Cathedral, Enniscorthy is hosting an exhibition from 1st to 8th July to celebrate the
bi-centenary of Augustus Pugin, architect of the Cathedral and many other churches in the
Diocese of Ferns. It is entitled:
A Celebration of Colour. Quilts of every
hue created by quilters from all over the Southeast will adorn the building. There will also be items designed by Pugin ,
Photographs and Childrens art. A
true feast for the senses! Opening times: 11am 6pm daily, 2pm 6pm Sundays. Group bookings can be arranged in the evenings by
contacting the Parish Secretary at 053-9235777 Admission 5. All welcome.
Calor Community Champion 2012 The
Search for Irelands unsung heroes
Calor understands the work carried out
each day by unsung local volunteers in parishes across the diocese of Ferns. They have
launched the Calor Community Champion 2012 to give recognition and 10,000
reward to those who go above and beyond the call in our parishes, who get things done, and work tirelessly each day to
improve the lives of the people around them. The
winner will receive 1,500 and a bursary of 7,500 to give to their nominated
charity or local organisation. Calor will
provide 500 for the person or organisation that nominated them. Nominations to crown this years champion
volunteer will close at the end of July. For

World Youth DayThe
diocesan WYD youth group is organising a camping trip for young adults with a BBQ and a
climb up Eagle Hill (near Crossbridge) on the 6/7 of July. Any young adults (18+)

per person.
Developments in BreeThe Department of
Education & Skills recently approved grants to the Board of Management at Scoil
Seosaimh Noafa to replace the existing pre-fab classrooms and the provision of an extra
classroom. This project is well underway: the final plans for the new building will be
decided within days and it will go to planning application this week. The existing two pre-fab classrooms will continue
in use during the building phase and the existing CEP/Parish Office pre-fab will also be
required for school purposes. As a result, the
CEP Office will transfer to new accommodation in Bree Community Centre. This transfer will be completed during the next
couple of weeks. The existing telephone number
for the office (053) 9247613 will also transfer. The
CEP office will continue to co-ordinate the collection of items for inclusion in the
weekly newsletter and the parish database of historical records will continue to be
available for people searching for records of ancestors.
For Sale: Due to the re-location Bree CEP has the
following items available for sale7 new Venetian blindssilver/white in colourinstalled
new last year. Also four wooden computer

meeting of the Mens Shed group will take place in Bree Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 12
midday on Friday July 6th. All are most

Macra Thankyou - A huge thanks
to everyone who supported the Bree Macra na Feirme Table Quiz held in Ryan's Pub, Galbally
last Friday night. The club were delighted to see a total of 15 tables on the night! A big
thank you also to Quizmaster Jim Doyle, to Sean Hogan for the super entertainment
afterwards and to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle

Collections Thankyou
The recent
Churchgate Collection in aid of St Patricks Special School raised 485. The recent
IHPCT Collection raised 292. Rehab would like to thank all those who contributed to
their collection which raised 372.16.
Seisiun
returns to Bree Community Centre
The Comhaltas
Seisiún Sessions, in association with Celtic Roots, return to Bree Community Centre
on the 10th July and continue weekly on Tuesday nights at 8.30pm for the
months of July and August. Each Session begins with the serving of scones and tea / coffee
followed by a full programme of Music, Song, Dance and Storytelling. Cost is 10 for
adults with concessions for large groups and children. For bookings and further details

Bree Fair DayThe Annual Bree Fair Day will be held on Sun, 5th August.
Once again it will feature the usual stalls along with childrens Fancy Dress Comp,
Go Karts, Best Dressed Pet, Best Produce, Art and Photographic Competitions, Childrens
Baking Competitions and Best Container/window box. Talent Competitions (U13 & U18) and
Skittles Tournaments (U16 & Senior) will be the main features on the day. The Annual
Householders draw will also be held in association with Bree Fair Day. There will be a meeting on Mon 2nd of July at
8.30pm in meeting room at Bree Hall for Hall Committee & all those interested in
helping out / running stalls on Fair Day Sunday 5th August. We would ask that a
representative of all groups that use the Hall please attend this meeting.

and Buy SaleA Bring and Buy Sale in
aid of Clonmore Church Repairs will take place on Sat July 14th at Merton, Bree from 2
p.m. to 5 p.m. Garden Plants, Cakes, Raffle
and Tea Served all afternoon.
