INTRODUCING THE NEW MISSAL – Questions and Answers to assist our preparation for changes in some of the words we pray at Mass from September 2011 will be included in the Newsletter over the next two months.

Sunday June 26th 2011

Question:   Is the Catholic Church in Ireland alone in introducing this new Missal?

Answer: The Catholic Church in Ireland, along with Churches throughout the English speaking world, is working towards introducing the new edition of the Roman Missal at this time.  This new edition is the English translation of the Latin Missal that was issued by Pope John Paul II in 2002.  Since 2002 the Church in its many languages has engaged in the work of translating this Latin text through study, reflection and consultation.  This work in English speaking countries is now complete.  In Ireland, as in other English speaking countries, the new Missal will come into use during Autumn 2011.

Sunday July 3rd 2011

Question:   What differences can we expect at Mass from September 2011?

Answer:  From September, congregations will begin to pray the new translations of the people’s prayers at Mass.   These new texts will be on Missalettes and on specially produced “congregational cards” and will assist us in becoming more familiar with the new edition.  In some places people will, by then, already be familiar with this congregational card through using it at weekday Mass or at Parish Meetings.

CONDOLENCES ON PASSING OF FR. AIDAN KAVANAGH, P.P.

The Office of President Mary MacAleese has been in touch with Bri Beag Committee to extend the Presidents heartfelt sympathies to the Kavanagh family and the Community of Bree on the recent passing of Fr. Aidan Kavanagh.  The President will write personally to the Kavanagh family in the coming weeks.

Bree Active Retirement Association would like to extend their deepest sympathy to the Kavanagh family, Bishop Denis Brennan, Fr. Matt Boggan and the entire community on the recent death of the very Rev. Fr. Aidan Kavanagh, our esteemed club president.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Ballyhogue G.A.A. Club would like to extend our sympathies to the family and friends of our much esteemed club president Fr. Aidan Kavanagh P.P. who passed away suddenly last week. Fr. Kavanagh had a long and valued association with Ballyhogue G.A.A. club since his arrival in the Parish 30 years ago and his presence in the field on Summer evenings will be sorely missed. A club guard of honour flanked his removal on Friday night and the huge crowd in Bree on both Friday evening and Saturday morning showed the genuine respect that Father Kavanagh was held in.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
