THE NEW MISSAL Questions and Answers to
assist our preparation for changes in some of the words we pray at Mass from September
2011 will be included in the Newsletter over the next two months. Sunday June 5th 2011
Question: Is the Mass changing? Answer: The structure
of the Mass is not changing. The order and
the actions of the Mass remain unchanged. The
readings at Mass are not changed. However,
with the introduction of the new edition of the Roman Missal throughout the English
speaking world, we will all notice a change in how the Mass sounds. The translations of a number of our prayer texts
from the original Latin have changed sometimes by a particular word or in the word
order. Prayers that we have become used to
reciting by memory now have to be relearned. Prayers
that we are used to hearing the Priest say will sound different to us. The style of language we will hear and pray may
seem more formal to us and perhaps, in parts, more complex.
But over time, with the praying of these texts, the sound of the Mass will
again become familiar to us. PILGRIMMAGE TO LOUGH DERG A pilgrimage to Lough Derg from Tuesday July 5th to Thursday July 7th is currently being organised by Fr. Patrick Cushen, P.P. Ferns. With the visit of President McAleese in the coming weeks
and also the continuing judging of the National Tidy Towns competition, Bree will be very
much in the spotlight over the next few weeks. A
special word of thanks goes to everyone for all their work to date in improving the
Village and approach but with the visit in mind everyone is asked to make an extra effort
to help keep the Village and all approach roads clean, neat and tidy. Please help dispose of any litter you see
and please keep the area around the recycle units in the Community Centre grounds clear of
rubbish. All help and support would be
greatly appreciated and thank you to everyone for their co-operation.

Just a reminder that the tidy towns entry for 2011 has
now gone in. The adjudicators will judge the
village and approach roads through the months of June, July and August. Our 2011 application relies on the support of the
community to take pride in their local environment and to take action against litter and
waste. Bree Tidy Towns are registered with
the Green Home Scheme (An Tasice). Please
help us increase our waste minimisation score by joining the programme. To join log onto www.greenhome.ie, click on join in and select Bree
Community Tidy Towns in the register now section. Take 5 minutes to fill in the online survey and
check out the waste, energy, transport and water action plans. The adjudicators will take note of the number of
households who register.

Contact Us
Ballyhogue G.A.A. club is seeking to improve
communication with members and supporters. To this end we would appreciate if people could
contact us at ballyhogue@yahoo.ie so that we can
add their e-mail addresses to the club mailing list. In particular it would be
good if we could get the e-mails of those who are away from the parish or living
abroad so that a flow of information could be established. Please help us get this
project going. Thanks.
Recent Games
Well done to the Junior footballers who recorded a win
over Kilmore in the league on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-9. Also our Junior hurlers earned a
hard fought win over local rivals Davidstown in the Junior Championship recently. In a
hectic, tight game Ballyhogue finally ran out winners by six points. They now face into
the rest of the championship with two wins under their belts.
