COMMUNITY GAMES ACTIVITIES

Bree Davidstown were represented in the County Final of the U13 Choir competition by the group of Eamonn Jones, Tom Curran, Sophie Forte, Chloe McMullen, Brid Byrne, Caoimhe Byrne, Ciara Byrne, Emma Byrne, Alannah Malone, Kasey Doyle, Moya Neary, Ciara Doyle, Sophie Mozkoekia and Aoife Codd. Team managers were Michelle Hogan and Sinead Doyle. Fiachre Tobin, Ciall Humphrey, Lucy Doyle, Jonathan Rothwell, Kate Byrne and Ciara McKelvie represented the area in the county final of the U16 Chess in Bellefield last Friday night. Edmund Keogh, Luke Sweeney, Ivan Rothwell, Adam Buckley, Peter Kelly and Katie Humphrey took part in the U12 finals. Team managers were Myriam Gately, Fonsie Keogh and Jim Doyle. Young people from the area will be involved in the following activities over the coming weeks. Solo Dancing and Group Dancing on this Sunday 8th Feb in Raheen at 2pm, Solo & Group Singing and Solo & Group Music on 15th Feb, Table Quiz on 23rd Feb and Art on 7th March. EXTRA BLOOD DONOR CLINIC

Due to the bad weather over the last week the Blood Donation Clinics scheduled for Monday and Tuesday were cancelled.  A special additional clinic has been organised by the Irish Blood Transfusion Service for this coming Sunday, February 8th in St. Aidan’s Primary School, Enniscorthy from 11.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.  Please come along and donate if you can.

BREE MACRA NEWS


Well done to the Bree Macra group who came 3rd in the National Final of the Macra Capers competition held in Mountmellick last Saturday night. The winners were Carriguline, Co Cork and Athboy, Co Meath were second. Bree Macra team members were Brendan Byrne, Stephen Donohoe, Ciaran Waters, Mark Waters, Sarah Doyle, Aoife Doyle, Marie Doyle, Aine Doyle, Sinead Doyle, Amy Parle, Annie Parle, Roisin McCarthy, Sinead Hughes, Niamh Darcy and Sinead Fortune. Sinead Fortune also produced the show.

BREE AC NEWS

Catriona Corcoran came second in the Junior High Jump in the Leinster Indoor Athletics Championships in Nenagh last Sunday. In the U16 age group, Amy Flanagan won the HJ and was second in the hurdles, Tony Stafford was second in the Hurdles and Dylan Walsh was second in the HJ. Catriona Corcoran was third in the U17 High Jump and at U19 Fiona Furlong won the Hurdles. Part 2 of these Leinster Championships take place on the last weekend of February. Best wishes to those taking part in the Belfast Indoor International this weekend.

 CELTIC ROOTS


The Annual Dance Marathon Fundraiser and Bizarre takes place in Bree Community Centre on Sunday 22nd February from 2 to 6pm. Donations for the Bizarre are welcome at dancing times on Wednesday nights or on Saturdays. Your support would be appreciated.

COMHALTAS AGM

The AGM of Galbally/Ballyhogue Comhaltas will be held on Monday night next February 9th  at 8.30 p.m. in Bree Hall.  New members are most welcome.

REFURBISHMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

There will be a meeting of the Refurbishment Committee in the Hall on Monday night next, February 9th at 8.30 p.m.  All members are asked to attend.

BREE YOUTH CLUB NEWS

On Friday February 13th, Templeshannon Youth Club will host their disco in Bree Hall. The disco starts at 9pm.   Admission is €3.00 – youth club members only may attend.   The Regional Finals  of the All Ireland Variety Show will take place on Saturday February 14th  in Oola, Tipperary.   The coach with the acts and supporters will leave Bree Hall at 8.30 a.m. and only those members who have signed up to go on the trip will be able to attend.  Best wishes are extended to Sean Hogan and Joseph Hogan performing in the Spotlight category and to Lucy Forte, Leah Curran, Johanna Wickham, Sadhbh Kirwan, Shauna Dunne, Grace Donavan and Shonagh Spratt Murphy performing in the Showdance category in the Regionals.
