FURTHER POINTS GAINS IN TIDY TOWNS COMPETITION

Bree recorded further points gains in the recent results of the National Tidy Towns Competition.  An additional 3 points were gained on last years adjudication bringing our current total in the competition to 253.  While we had hoped to gain more points this year considering the amount of work and development which has taken place in the Village it is encouraging to see our ratings increase.  Bree finished third overall in the marking for Category A entries for Wexford behind Craanford on 280 and Foulksmills on 264 which is also a very positive outcome.  Judging of the Village took place in early June this year.   Judging is carried out under various headings such as overall development approach, built environment, landscaping, wildlife and natural amenities, litter control, waste minimisation, tidiness, residential areas, roads, streets and back areas and general impression.  We gained our additional points in the areas of built environment, landscaping and waste minimisation.     The adjudicators report was very positive under all the headings and complimented work which had taken place and also made suggestions for other improvements.  The adjudicator also complimented the installation and use of the larger recycling units at the Community Centre but unfortunately on the day of adjudication some litter had been left at the units which surely cost us a point or two!   The full report is available on the Tidy Towns website at www.tidytowns.ie   It is encouraging that all our efforts are moving in the right direction and further plans are in place for next year.  A word of thanks must go to Pobal Bri, Bree Development Group, Bree CEP, all the individuals, and residents who work hard throughout the year to keep the Village looking well.
