Bree Community Notices

Church Cleaning The Church Cleaning Roster will expire soon.  We gratefully acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of those who have volunteered their time to this practical service to us during the past year so that our church is presented in a manner becoming worship of God.   A Volunteer Sign-Up sheet is available beside the envelope box for anyone willing to assist.

“Gathering” Concert “The Gathering” with Wexford Folk Orchestra, featuring:  Irish, Scottish, Folk Music, Songs and Recitations. Guest Artist DES  WILLOUGHBY (Tenor, of Willoughby Brothers' Fame).  Also Rathangan Folk Group and Members of New Ross Pipe Band in the Riverbank House Hotel, Ferrybank, Wexford on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 8:00 pm.  Adm 10.  Doors open at 7.30pm.   Tickets available at Door.

Afternoon-Tea Dance  In aid of the Irish Senior Citizens’ Parliament (Wexford Division) in the Talbot Hotel, Wexford on Sunday November 17 from 3:00-6:00 pm.  Adm 12.  Music by the Wexford Folk Orchestra.

Bree CEP Vacancies—2013/14 Project  Applications are now being taken for the 2013/14 Bree Community Employment Project.   Applications for positions such as General Maintenance, Community Centre Workers, Care of the Elderly and Childcare Assistants are being sought. Full details of all vacancies can be accessed on www.jobsireland.ie.  Applicants should be registered with FAS and Garda Vetting is required for some positions.  To apply please contact the local office in Abbey Square.  Contact Elaine in the CEP office for further information—053 9247613.  FAS/DSP qualifying criteria applies.  The project covers the areas of Bree, Galbally, Ballyhogue and Glynn.  

 Ballyhogue Gaa Lotto  The recent draw results are as follows. No winner of the jackpot of €4400. There was one match 3 winner - Charlie Kehoe, Carrigunane. The next draw for a Jackpot of €4600 is in Ryan’s of Galbally on the 9th of October at 8.30pm. Your support is greatly appreciated

Hope Centre Church Gate Collection  The Hope Cancer Support Centre will be holding their annual Church Gate Collection at all masses on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October. Your support would be very much appreciated.

Active Retirement Social Afternoon  Bree Active Retirement will host the October Social Afternoon on Wednesday next, Oct 16th in Bree Community Centre. All the usual entertainment including Bingo, Raffle, Tea and Refreshments.  All are most welcome.  Reminder - Bowling takes place every other Wednesday of the month in the Community Centre also.  Details of the groups Christmas Social will be circulated shortly also.

Afternoon of Prayer An afternoon of prayer will take place on Sunday 27th October next in Ballyvaloo retreat centre.  Beginning with tea/coffee at 1.30 and finishing with mass at 5pm followed by an evening meal. Canon de Val will lead the retreat.  Cost of retreat is €20 pp.

Athletics Training Indoor Athletics Training will resume for the winter season on Thursday next, 17th October in Bree Hall. This year there will be two training sessions; 7pm -7.45pm for primary school pupils and 7.45pm-9pm for affiliated Bree AC members and secondary school pupils. Cost is 2 per session to max 5 per family. Athletes for either session are asked to bring a mat/towel for floor exercises. Outdoor sessions, in the lower GAA field, have resumed for all athletes over 8 years on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm.

Pioneer Dinner Dance The Annual Pioneer Dinner Dance takes place on Wednesday November 13th in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy.  Music is by Billy Kirwan with tickets costing 30 each—available from 087 7609635.

Mens Shed Meeting  The next meeting of the Mens Shed Group takes place on Friday morning next, October 18th at 11 a.m. in Bree Community Centre.  For more information contact Billy at 087 6671172.

Bree Parish Journal  Preparations are under way for this year’s edition of Bree Parish Journal. All clubs and organisations in the parish are asked to have a report of their activities over the past two years ready ASAP. The committee is also looking for photographs particularly of groups of people from times past as well as items suitable for publication pertaining to places or people of the area including notable family celebrations. Chess and Draughts Bree Davidstown Community Games Chess and Draughts Lessons have resumed on Tuesday nights from 7-9pm in Bree Hall. All children from 8 years to 16 years are welcome. Cost is 1.
